The Augusta Chapter of the VMI Alumni Association was started in November of 2004. We number over 50 alumni in the CSRA.

In the Fall of 2004, alumni in the the Augusta area discovered the grave of New Market Cadet William S. Carmichael here in Augusta at Cottage Cemetery. The chapter met once a month for four months to clear brush from Cottage Cemetery. Since then, we have conducted five New Market Memorial Services at Cottage Cemetery, participated in College nights in the CSRA and gathered for Founders Day.  We have also located the grave of another New Market cadet, John Francis Bransford, in Augusta's Summerville Cemetery.

We plan to meet at least twice each year around New Market Day and Founders Day. We also plan to have several work days each year on an as needed basis to maintain Cottage Cemetery.

If your are a VMI alumnus or a friend of VMI and desire to be kept aware of our activities, please contact us.
